Barney Harmse

Story Line
Barney is a Namibian. His background originally was more technical. He started his IT career at the end of 1988 with the old Public Service Commission in Namibia (Now Office of the Prime Minister in Namibia), as a COBOL programmer. During his last year at the OPM during 1990, he was also an instructor in IBM COBOL. He then left the OPM in 1990 to join BCS Computers, a leading Software Development House for the Insurance Industry, with a lot of focus on the Short Term Insurance industry. Except for Programming experience during his time at BCS Computers, he started qualifying himself extensively in Networking, more specifically Wide Area Networks and International Networking. He became the Manager for BCS Computers in Namibia in 1995.

Most significantly is Barney's Internet focused experience. He co-founded the original UUNET Internet Africa in 1996, and became the Managing Director for UUNET in Namibia, after the DataTec take-over in 1999. He left UUNET at the end of 2002 and explored available IT and Internet related opportunities in Africa.

In the beginning of 2005, he was one of the co-founders of the Internet Technologies Group of Companies, for which he is the Group CEO. The Internet Technologies Group have offices in Namibia, Angola and soon Mauritius.

Schalk Erasmus

Story Line
Schalk is a Namibian with more than 8 years experience in the Information Technology arena. His career started as a lecturer in various Microsoft Products and other Technical Courses. Schalk soon completed various tertiary diplomas and certifications like Dip Acc, Dip SS and his MCSE to mention a few.

Accept for computer and accounting qualifications Schalk also has extensive Management Experience from being the Branch Manager of ISU Campus in 1998 to Project Director at a division of DataTec called Millennium Technology Holdings. Schalk also has Project Management Experience by leading a project for Insurance Brokers during the consolidation of Trust Bank, Volkskas, United, and Allied Bank (Now called ABSA) in 1998.

He co-founded Progressive Systems in 1999, which he were actively involved in till 2002 when he co-founded Incredible Networks. Since 2002 Schalk got exposed to Cisco and Unix Technology, which now runs the Core Backbone of ITN. Incredible Networks and Progressive Systems were consolidated into what is now called Internet Technologies Namibia. Schalk now fulfills the role of Technical Director for Internet Technologies Namibia, which he co-founded together with Barney Harmse and Quintin Kotze.
